I’ve learned an important lesson in context lately, of course for me it’s not because I heard it in a sermon, or in a podcast, or even thought to myself about the importance of context……no it was because I said probably 3 or 4 things in which either the context, the content, or both made it completely inappropriate. Let me say that I do not think cursing is all together wrong, I take jokes pretty laid back, but it was and is stupid to think that my carefree attitude is held by everyone. Turns out not everyone likes random jokes with cursing in them! You get the point and I won’t be specific, you know when certain things can be said, you know how some people will take it, if you are in question, then be quiet, if you know your friends will get it and you don’t feel guilty, then as long as it’s not unbiblical go ahead. Any other time, I guess it’s good to just zip it.

This is my favorite song of all time. It’s a tad sexually graphic, but I still love the song (shoot me) It’s an R&B song I heard when I was in third grade and it’s never grown old. LL if you read this you’re the man, you deserve an award for doing the pimpest song ever. An overweight hispanic man with no teeth could woo a woman with this song….maybe, probably not, but it’s an awesome song.

I’ve been watchin’ you from afar,
for as long as I can rememeber
You are all a real man can need
and ever ask for
this is love
this is more than a crush

It was all ….(up at Rutgers)
I saw with your man
smiling, huh, a coach bag in your hand
I was laying in the coup with my hat turned back
we caught eyes for a moment, and that was that
so skated off, as you strolled off
looking at them legs, god damn they looked so soft (so fine)
I gotta take ya from your man that’s my mision
If his love is real he got ta handle competition
you only knew about 5 months (that’s right)
besides he drinks too much and smokes too many blunts
and I’ve been working out everyday thinking bout you
looking at my own eyes in the rear view
cathchin flash backs of our eye contact
wish i could lay ya on your stomach and caress your back
i would hold ya in my arms and ease your fears
I can’t believe it, I hadn’t had a crush in years

[Chorus]
[2x] hey lover, hey lover, this is more than a crush
Lover, hey lover, this is more than a crush
hey lover, hey lover, this is more than a crush

I see you at the bus stop waitin everyday
your man must think its safe for you to travel that way
but i don’t want ta violate your relationship
so i lay back in the cut with a crush that’a trip
still he can’t stop me from having day dreams
tounging you down with huh vanilla ice cream
kissing on your thighs in the moonlight
searching your body with my tounge girl all night
I wonder one day could it be, simple dreams turnin into reality
Our love would come down so naturally
we would walk down the isle of destiny
what your man got his hustle on gotcha type scared
break ya off a little chump change to do your hair
that seems to be enough to satisfy your needs
but there’s a deeper level if you just follow my lead
Hey lover

[CHORUS]

Last week I saw ya at the mall
standing at the pay phone bout to make a call
I had a vision it was me on the other end
telling you come by and then you walked in
I touched you gently with my hands
we talked about traveling the distant lands
escaping all the madness out here in the world
becomin my wife no longer my girl
then, you let your dress fall down to the floor
i kissed you softly and you yearned for more
we experienced pleasure unparallel
into an ocean of love we both fell
swimming in the timeless, currents of pure bliss
fantasies interchanging with each kiss
undying passion unities our souls
togehter we swim until the point of no control
but its a fantasy it(that, you) won’t come true
we never even spoke and your man (still) love you
so I’m gonna keep all these feelins inside
keep my dreams alive until the right time

[CHORUS]

I partially attribute this title to “High Fidelity” and I partially attribute it to Liberty’s subculture of “sin” issues that drive me up the wall. Let me first define what I would call a real problem, and what I would call a cute problem. A real problem is something that severely affects your future, your relationships, and your well being spiritually and physically. A cute problem is a real problem too, but it’s not taken seriously unless you’re in accountability with someone because you need to divert the subject from the true problems. The reason a cute problem is a real problem as well is because all sin affects people negatively, but the cute problems are not huge defining issues, and to some they wouldn’t even be sin issues, just personal choices. These include things like: cursing, smoking, drinking, listening to Eminem, and admitting to liking Michael Bolton. Real problems would be things like: alcoholism, addiction to nicotine, taking eminem literally and killing your grandmother, and other big issues (huge temper, depression, etc…). In today’s society, it’s almost endearing to have some underlying ailment that people really don’t take seriously, but like to hear someone admit to so 1. they can feel better about their problems, and 2. because secretly they want to do the things the person admits too and needs confirmation. In America, and I’m sure in other parts of the world as well, we get slapped on the wrist for: drinking a beer, smoking a cigarette, watching the Real World, and listening to R&B. However, we would be denounced in the streets if we admitted to: having sexual addictions, having a problem with alcohol, and questioning the foundations of our faith because we’re scared. I propose we do two things: 1. we make our cute problems real problems and leave the questionable things to God. If you don’t feel bad about kicking back a budweiser, then don’t tell people and act like it might be wrong, same goes for cigarettes, R rated movies, and watching southpark. If you do think it’s wrong, then admit it, and repent. Secondly let’s start admitting real problems that we can’t handle alone. If we are friends, then admitting to something allows accountability, and it encourages repentance from the other person.

Cute problems are used to pick up chicks

Real problems destroy lives.

Leave the cute problems to the douche bags in clubs, let’s starting talking some real shit.

“Yeah I’ve been trying to quit smoking, but it’s my buddies birthday, ya know? What’s your name?”

When I bring up Golden Corral, it seems that people’s first response is “that place is disgusting”, or “naa I’m not a big fan of buffets”, my question then becomes why does Golden Corral become the whipping boy for buffet style dining? Let’s look at this from as outside of a view as we can. Do people really hate buffets or do they hate the idea of intertwining themselves with people that they would associate as buffet eaters? Particularly overweight people and people of lower socioeconomic status. I would argue that people are merely avoiding buffets because they want to appear both richer, and healthier. But why bother going to that? As a college student, I hear all the time people wanting to go out to eat, but yet I always hear those same ridiculous bastards complaining about having no money. On the same token, people somehow think that they are going to eat so much healthier by not going to a place like Golden Corral, I say bullshit. First let me address the issue of socioeconomic status. If you are a college student, you are most likely dead ass broke. So why in hell would you go to a restaurant in which you will pay approximately 15 dollars, and leave a 3 dollar tip, and not get enough food to fill you up, when you could go to a restaurant that costs 11.50, and you will only have to leave about a 1.50 tip because all they do is fill up your damn drinks. From a saving perspective it’s much more logical, you save about 5 bucks, enough to buy you something absurd that you’ll regret later, like most college kids do (like a frappucino). Now let’s address the idea of eating healthier. I have not, do not, and will not at any time give anywhere between 95 and 98 percent of people any credit for having one lick of sense when it comes to responsible eating. Just because it is not an all you can eat buffet does not mean most people will practice any kind of decency above the level of a pig with a tapeworm in regards to watching what they eat. Here’s the difference though, at Texas Roadhouse, you’re going to get free rolls all night, pig out on rolls, and sometime in the near future regret eating those rolls, and if you’re smart, ask yourself “why only free rolls”, or “why free peanuts”. I’ll tell you why, because it’s cheap as shit, just like the food at golden corral, the only difference is at Golden Corral you can eat everything there all you want, not just the stupid rolls. This now brings me to a crucial point, and that is a lot of people think that a place like golden corral is somehow less clean. Has anyone here talked to a person that works at a restaurant? Restaurants can be pretty nasty, and it’s places like Applebees that get put on healthwatch because of poor habits, yes, applebees, neighborhood bar and grill…a place where you will get a 6 ounce steak, 7 mediocre french fries, an average of 3 refills on your drink, a 5 dollar higher bill than Golden Corral, and a bad rest of the night….not necessarily because the food was bad and made you sick, but because you are sick at yourself that you spent 18 bucks at applebees, the worst place to eat since ‘Nam. The final argument I hear against Golden Corral is this: “Sometimes the food is not cooked right”. Good call, so instead of going to a buffet where 85 percent of the time it’s cooked right, and if it isn’t you can wait 30 seconds and get the right thing, let’s go to a restaurant that will get it right 90 percent of the time, but when they f*ck it up, you have to wait 20 minutes while your friends are guiltily waiting for your stupid plate to come so they can eat their cold, more expensive, less satisfying dinner. Don’t be selfish people, the next time you and your friends are bickering like a case of morning sickness, just man up and go to Golden Corral. You’ll eat more, pay less, get more for your money, and feel like you ate too much shortly after, but guess what, you would have done that anyway.
